  1. Do I need a referral?
  • No  –  for any 3D/4D pregnancy imaging only or heart beat check.
  • Yes – for any diagnostic ultrasound imaging.  All referrals welcome.
  1. Do I get a rebate from Medicare?
  • No –  for pregnancy entertainment scans, 3D/4D ultrasound imaging only
  • Yes  – for patients with a GP referral for diagnostic imaging
  1. How long have you been doing ultrasound for:
  • Pauline is a qualified accredited Medical Sonographer with over 20 years of ultrasound experience and Radiography experience prior to that.
  1. Are you an Accredited Practice?
  • We are working towards accreditation. Sonic Ultrasound has registered for accreditation under the Department of Health (Commonwealth) against the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme Standards delivered by Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP)
  1. Is there any preparation instructions for Ultrasound?
  • Yes, for certain study types.  Some patients will be required to fast or have a full bladder on arrival.  Please see the website for further details or call us.
  1. Is there an out of pocket fee?
  • Yes, patients will pay an out of pocket fee that will not be claimable through Medicare.
  1. What factors can decrease imaging quality during 3D/4D imaging?
  • Sometimes obtaining the perfect “text book” photo is not possible due to patient BMI, placenta position, amniotic fluid around the baby, especially the face and baby position – is baby face down? 
  • Every attempt will be made to obtain the best photos possible of your baby.  It may just take a little longer!
  1. What do I need to bring on the day?
  • Referral, any previous reports or images for comparison purposes, medicare card and EFTPOS card for payment.  
  1. Do you offer combined screening for 12-14 week ultrasound?
  • Yes your ultrasound measurements are sent to either VCGS or Clinical Labs for final analysis and combined screening results.
  • Final result will be sent to your referring doctor.
